Dr. Ishaq Kyei Brobbey, a Senior Lecturer at Kumasi Technical University (KsTU), has criticized the Minister-designate for Foreign Affairs, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, describing him as a thief who couldn’t justify his properties.

Dr. Ishaq questioned how Ablakwa, as an MP earning a modest salary, could afford to rent a luxurious mansion at Airport Hills, a high-end area in Accra, for eight years.

Ablakwa had claimed that he rented the mansion, but Dr. Ishaq argued that the rent for such a property would be around $30,000 per month, which is unsustainable on an MP’s salary.

Speaking on the Wontumi Radio/TV Morning Show, Dr. Ishaq further expressed concerns about Ablakwa’s fitness to lead the Operation Recover All Loots (ORAL) team, tasked with recovering looted assets. He argued that Ablakwa’s lack of transparency about his properties and his inability to declare them raises questions about his suitability for the role.

Dr. Ishaq highlighted the Minister’s limited work experience, both in the public and private sectors, beyond his involvement in student politics. “He doesn’t have any proper political history apart from the student one he did, but he owns a house worth $3 million. Now, you can’t justify the owner, but instead, you’re saying it’s a rented apartment,”

Dr. Ishaq also praised the Minority Leader and MP for Effutu constituency, Alexander Afenyo-Markin, for his impressive performance at the vetting committee.

Afenyo-Markin’s confidence and strategic line of questioning successfully exposed the propaganda and incompetence of the Mahama appointees.
