The Minority in Parliament has made a bold statement today, chanting “And help us to resist oppressor’s rule…” lines in the National Anthem as they gathered at the entrance of the Parliament building.
The MPs, dressed in black and red attire, expressed their solidarity and resistance against what they perceived as oppressive rule.
This dramatic display of defiance comes amidst rising tensions between the Minority and the Speaker of Parliament, Alban Bagbin.
The Minority has been vocal about their disagreements with the Speaker’s decisions, and this chanting incident is an extension of their growing frustration.
The Speaker of Parliament, Alban Bagbin, suspended four Members of Parliament (MPs) for two weeks following a chaotic incident that occurred during Thursday’s sitting of the Appointments Committee.
The suspended MPs include the two chief Whips for both the Minority and Majority caucuses, Rockson Nelson Dafeamekpor and Frank Annoh-Dompreh, as well as Alhassan Sulemana Tampuli and Jerry Ahmed Shaib.
Speaker Bagbin also formed a committee to probe the incident.
