Preliminary reports gathered by MyNewsGh.com indicate that brake failure on the part of the MAN Diesel Fuel tanker resulted in Wednesday’s accident that claimed the lives of two persons.

Diesel Fuel Tanker with registration number AS 9631-11  from Tema towards Kumasi with one person on board on reaching a section of the Konongo township reortedy  failed brakes and in the process ran into the front portion of Samsung Truck with registration number GX 1026-12 from the opposite direction and pushed the said truck to hit Shackman Cargo Truck with registration number GG 2393-23 behind him.

The Fuel Tanker went further and ran into the rear portion of Hyundai Elantra Saloon car with registration number GW 4031-21 which was ahead of him and smashed it with the occupants.

The driver and one person on board the Hyundai Elantra Saloon car all died at the spot while  drivers and the other occupants on board the other trucks sustained various degree of injuries and were rushed to Stewards Hospital for treatment.

The bodies of the deceased were also conveyed to the same hospital morgue pending autopsy.
