The King of Dagbon, His Royal Majesty, Yaa Naa Abukari II, has once again expressed his gratitude to President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo for bringing to an end the age-long protracted chieftaincy conflict in the ancient Kingdom.

“Your selfless efforts in supporting and bringing reconciliation and peace to Dagbon will forever be etched in our hearts.

“Your decisive leadership in ending the protracted mediation process between Abudu and Andani families by the esteemed committee of eminent Kings, His Majesty Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, His Majesty the Nayiri and His Majesty the Yagbonwura, after the unfortunate demise of my predecessor Yaa Naa Yakubu II, was a masterstroke that paved the way for the performance of the funerals of our two deceased Yaa Naas” the Dagbon Overlord said in a statement read on his behalf by the Chief of Zangbalun, Naa Dr Yakubu II.

The Yaa Naa continued, “You didn’t stop at that. Your continued support ensured my installation as the new Yaa Naa, and your sustained guidance has maintained peace in our beloved Dagbon”.

“Regardless of the pockets of lawlessness, which are due to our own inaction and patience though, we are enjoying unprecedented peace in Dagbon thanks to your efforts. We cannot thank you enough and pray that the good Lord would bless you appropriately” Yaa Naa added.

The Dagbon Overlord made these pronouncements when President Akufo-Addo paid a courtesy call him at the Gbewaa Palace in Yendi on Tuesday, October 15, 2024, for a day’s working tour of the Northern Region.

The Yaa Naa could not hold his emotions and expressed mixed feelings for the President’s tenure itching closer to an end on January 7, 2025.

“I understand your visit today is part of a thank you tour of the regions as your term of office is gradually coming to an end. I don’t know whether to be happy for you for the successful completion of your mandate or to be sad for the fact that I am going to miss a great friend” he said.

“May your legacy continue to inspire generations to come. You will always be cherished and remembered as a true statesman and champion of peace and security.”

Meanwhile, Yaa Naa Abukari II, has also commended the President for the historic appointment of Dr Mohammed Amin Adam as the Finance Minister of the Republic.

“I am particularly thankful for the trust you have placed in my children and grandchildren by appointing them to various leadership positions within your administration. The historic appointment of the first Finance Minister from the north is particularly significant, demonstrating your commitment to inclusive leadership. I appreciate your recognition of their capabilities and potential” he emphasized.
