Threat to Resign, Arson: Details of missing NDC Tema West Women Organiser emerge

The Tema West Women’s Organiser of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC), Paulina Lamisi, has mysteriously disappeared, leaving her family and the local community distressed.
The Missing Persons Unit (MPU) at the headquarters of the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) has intensified efforts at uncovering the circumstances surrounding her sudden absence.
Background of the disappearance
Paulina Lamisi, 42, was reported missing from her home at Sowutuom, Accra, on Wednesday, June 12, 2024.
Originally from Sandema in the Upper East Region, Lamisi is known for her dedicated service to the NDC.
Her disappearance has prompted the newly-established MPU to pursue critical leads, which investigators believe could soon resolve this worrying situation.
Lamisi married Apostle Elijah Arthur four years ago, bringing her 18-year-old daughter from a previous relationship into the marriage.
The Chronicle newspaper reported that the Apostle Arthur also has a son from a prior relationship.
The couple faced a significant emotional setback about two and a half months ago when Lamisi suffered a miscarriage, which would have been their only child together, the paper said.
A family source, who preferred to remain anonymous, disclosed that Lamisi left her matrimonial home on the fateful Wednesday with her bag and a few belongings.
This development has left many questioning whether her disappearance is linked to ongoing marital issues.
The mystery deepened with revelations of earlier threats and a devastating arson incident. Approximately a year into her marriage, while serving as the Deputy Women’s Organiser for her constituency, Lamisi received numerous threatening text messages from unknown sources.
The messages demanded she resigns from her position or face severe consequences, including the burning of her house at Sakumono.
Despite reporting these threats to the police, no arrests were made, and the threats tragically materialized when her house was eventually set ablaze.
The paper added that to date, the perpetrator remains unidentified. The connection between these past threats and her current disappearance remains unclear, but it is a significant angle under investigation.
Apostle Elijah Arthur, deeply concerned for his wife’s safety, has appealed to the public to provide any information that could assist in locating her.
He mentioned that Lamisi frequently traveled to Lome and Lagos for business, but her partners in these cities have no information about her recent movements.
Apostle Arthur is extending his search to Lagos, hoping for any lead that might aid the police.
A source at the Police Headquarters revealed that Lamisi’s phone remained active for two days after her disappearance, until it went off on Friday, June 14, 2024.
The police, in collaboration with telecommunications service providers, are making progress in tracking her phone activity.
The family, friends, and supporters of Paulina Lamisi anxiously await news of her whereabouts as the investigation unfolds.
