Oleksandr Usyk has given Tyson Fury the first loss of his career and becomes the first Undisputed Heavyweight Champion of the world after 25years.

The fight started slowly in favor of Tyson Fury who kept the distance with jabs in the first round.

Usyk started working his way into the fight by closing the distance and firing shots at Fury. Tyson was fighting in the middle and latter parts of the fight as though he was in a comfortable lead just as former Undisputed Heavyweight Champion Lennox Lewis stated

‘Fury was boxing like he won the fight. No boxer can judge and say they won the fight. For me, everytime a round was close they should look at it like a loss’.

Both fighters sustained cuts in the fight but Fury looked the most hurt when he was rocked in 9th round. Usyk was denied a knock down by the ropes and the bell.

At the end of the bout, Oleksandr Usyk was declared winner by spilt decision.

Two judges scored in his favour – 115-113 and 114-113 with the other giving it Fury at 114-113.

A disappointed Fury believed he won the fight “I believe I won that fight. I believe he won a few of the rounds, but I won the majorty. It was one of the daftest decisions in boxing. I’ll be back. The good little man got the decision.

He is confident he can make a comeback in a rematch come October. “We’ll go back to our families and I’ll see him again in October. We’ll go back, rest up. I believe I won the fight but I’m not going to sit and cry and make excuses. We’ll run it again in October.”

Usyk was filled with emotions when he was declared winner and he is not wasting anytime to give Tyson Fury a rematch.

“Thank you so much to my team. It’s a big opportunity for my family, for me, for my country. It’s a great time, it’s a great day.

“Yes, of course. I am ready for a rematch.”
