The presidential candidate of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Dr Mahamudu Bawumia on Monday (13 May) received a rousing welcome in his home region, the North East Region.

Residents of Walewale defied early morning rains to meet the NPP presidential candidate in a mammoth reception and a grand entry into town.
On his way to Nalerigu, Dr Bawumia made stopovers at various villages and interacted with many households and community leaders.
Unprecedented development
Bawumia lauded President Akufo-Addo for the creation of the North East Region, adding that the move has ushered in an era of unprecedented development.
Speaking at a meeting with the clergy, the NPP presidential candidate said since the creation of the North East Region, over 370 infrastructural projects have been executed, signalling tangible progress.
He pledged to further enhance development in the region if elected president in the 7 December elections.
“If you look at the projects we have done in the North East region, and I was looking at the data yesterday, we have completed 378 projects in the North East region. Completed in the last seven years.
“Completed 378 projects, and there are 138 ongoing projects which we will do then. And these include 93 classroom blocks that we have built,” he said.
So far, Vice-President Bawumia has toured the Eastern, Western, Western North, Bono, Ahafo and Bono East Regions.
