Ghana Army Mocked As Alleged Height-deficient, ‘Very Old’ Recruits Pass Out

Scandal has rocked the Ghana Army over the passing out of army recruits considered unqualified by social media users based on their appearance.

Several pictures of recruits have been making the round on social media with some recruits appearing height-deficient and too old for the age threshold.

So far no one has been able to provide evidence of the age of the recruits or their heights but social media users insist those recruits are not likely to meet the threshold.

The pictures of the recruits which are usually posted on social media by family and friends to wish them well on their graduation ends up going viral with mockery and questions for the Ghana Armed Forces.

Per the official eligibility requirements to enlist in the army, aside passing the WASSCE not above grade C6 and being a Ghanaian citizen by birth and of good character, recruits MUST not be less than 18 years of age and not more than 25 years for Non-Tradesmen and not more than 27 years for Tradesmen.

Also, other requirements include being medically fit by Armed Forces standard, not married and not bonded.

Another important well-known requirement Blis that recruits must be of minimum height of 1.68m (5’6”) for males and 1.57m (5’2”) for females.

For Military Police, the minimum height of 1.75m (5’9”) for males and 1.70m (5’7”) for females is required.
